The date for April school board elections will remain untouched for the time being.
The Ridgewood school board decided not to move its elections to November, meaning the public will still have a chance to vote on the district's spending plan.
The Board of Education (BOE) on Monday tabled a resolution that would shift school board elections from April to November and eliminate a public vote on the yearly budget if it remained within the 2 percent cap on tax levy increases.
The resolution followed recently passed state legislation that allows local school boards to move their elections to November to coincide with state, national and, in some towns, local elections. According to officials, advantages of such a move would be the financial savings from consolidating voting materials into one date and increased voter turnout.

Why?
All the special interest groups in the Village (sports dads, CRR, etc.) should be happy. It is far easier for them to impact the results of a lightly-attended spring election, than a fall elction.
12:34, the only voters who actually care about the school budget come out and vote in the spring. Any ignorant person can push a button without thinking in November. What would that prove?
As far as I am concerned if you don't show up to vote you have no right to complain. Election turn out in November is better then April, but it is still rather poor.
We need more informed voters, not just more voters. Turnout may historically be low, but the prospect of having people who are there for another election and press the nearest button is scary.
Don't forget to oust Hutton…it's your civic duty.
8:48 - At least Hutton has had the guts to take a hard line with the teachers in their current union negotiations, unlike our Village Manager and council members, who let the police and fire unions walk away with very generous contracts.
Hutton has such disdain for the public, he really needs to go.
