N.J. law would mandate teen drivers to spend extra year with learning permit
Teens
long for the day they can get away from their parents and use their
newfound freedom from a driver’s license to do what they want, when they
want.
Well, if the N.J. Legislature has its way, teens will have to wait a little longer.
According
to CBS 2 New York, the bill the state legislature passed in recent days
will require more hours logged with the learning permit, possibly
taking up to a year to get a probationary license. Parents could also be
required to take a teen driving safety course. (Schilling, New Jersey

it's about time......
how are these kids ever going to get jobs??? sorry its time for everyone to grow up and for Trenton to get lost
This will solve the parking problem at the high school.
Extra six months, not an extra year.
the way I see some of them driving...it's a good idea.
really 901 how many teens have run someone over in the CBD in Ridgewood?
They may not have run anyone over, but I have seen some terrible driving. Too many passengers, talking on the phone and speeding. You should go to some of the high school lots at about 3:00.
The answer is not longer waiting period with the permit, the answer is make the test tougher to get the permit/liscence in the first place. The driving test is an absolute joke and always has been.
How are they supposed to grow up if we don't let them have some responsibility.
You want them to do their growing up after they get behind the wheel of a car?
I think you answered your own question.
Ha Ha
Teach them about sex in grammar school, but don't let them drive until they are 20.
DMV is a disaster. The last thing they need is a new level of bureauocracy. Kids drive for a year on a restricted license. That's enough. If it's not enough in some cases then there is this thing called "parents". You can't even be fat these day without the government getting involved.
11:14 is 100% right. The test needs to be tougher, and there need to be more than 6 hours behind the wheel.
These red sticker measures, extra years, and parent classes are all useless BS designed to make these politicians look like they're saving some lives.
Idiots in Trenton.
