Let the debate continue if you wish but I fail to understand the negative comments about Keith
Ed Sullivan

Let the debate continue if you wish but I fail to understand the negative comments about Keith. He is not party to this matter and to deride him is simply gratuitous and unwarranted. In my book Keith cares deeply about Ridgewood. Although we may not always agree on an issue, I have tremendous respect for the man and for the efforts he puts forth on behalf of our Village. Few people know the countless hours he spends in Village Hall dealing with matters that would drive most people up a wall. Unfortunately his tenure as Mayor occurred at time when we experienced the worst economy since the Great Depression. Everyone is unhappy with everything and he just happens to be a convenient whipping boy for woes not of his doing or choosing. If you feel he is wrong on an issue call him or come to a Council meeting and let him know, but do so professionally and with courtesy. The man deserves at least that much respect.

Ed - I agree…I don't understand it either. Twice I've asked for help and he has come through for us.

well some feel that he should come around to village dept's and look and talk to all the workers in town,
not just the police dept.
the village workers need and will tell tell him a story or two.it is time to let the cat out of the bag.some of the moves that they are planing to do in a year or so will not fly so good.all we can say is open up your eyes and meet with all the workers that work for the great people of the village that pay tax'.
thank you.

I think Keith is a GREAT Mayor. To all these negative people- I didn't see your name on the ticket to run for office. Step up to the plate and run and work for us like keith does. OR is it that you can't handle it. It is a huge time commitment.

I think our Mayor is doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

Keith is a fine mayor, but there will always be critics, angry uninformed people just looking for someone to blame.

Keith may be a good person, but the Village's fiscal situation has serious issues and I don't believe that he and the coucil have been nearly aggressive enough in trying to get them fixed. The municipal portion of our taxes went up 7% this year, which is completely unacceptable. Also, under his watch the council has focused way too much time and energy on Valley, while other problems in the Village, such as pedestrian safety, potholed streets, and leaf and branch pickup have not received sufficient attention, in my opinion.

I agree with others here about Keith- he gives a lot of extra effort to his work on behalf of the Village - way more than some of the highly paid officials do. I do think he puts whatever he feels is the best interest of Ridgewood first.

We are fortunate to have someone who has spent his whole life basically here and a good part of that time working for the Village and learning a lot first-hand from that experience.

I've known him for over 50 years; we grew up here together.

That said, I do not always agree with him and in fact have strongly disagreed with some decisions and positions he has taken. But I have to respect him -and the service he has given to the Village- even when I disagree with his views.

I do wish he and the VC would focus more on the many needed infrastructure repairs around town though. Too many times money is found for all sorts of other things, but many of these matters have been ongoing for a very long time and the answer always seems to be "no" or "no money" when you ask.

It gets old after hearing same stuff over and over for years, even during better economic times than now. Meanwhile the problems just get worse and more costly to fix - IF they ever DO get fixed. Yet money is found for raises, bonuses and loads of other stuff.

There are way too many examples all over town.

Hey 3:40 you do realize that the Valley mess was left to Keith to deal with by Mr. Pfund.

no 503 some people just like to hear themselves talk bs

What bs is that 5:05???

well the mayor and council no that the lay offs will hurt village services in town.In the street dept they are down to 7 workers.in 2005 they had 10 in 2000 they had 18 in 1995 they 27.so mr mayor what are you going to do now.how the hell is that dept going to get the work done.not with 7 workers they are going to get much done.did the police go down that much,I don,t think so.,or any other dept.

5:03 - Yes, the Valley situation began under the previous mayor and council. That's not what the previous comment stated. It stated an opinion that Mayor Killion and the Council should have been able to focus more attention on and deal with other issues (pedestrian safety, potholed streets, leaf pickup, etc.) in addition to Valley. People are required to deal with multiple issues on their jobs all the time. In this situation, I believe that the council got overly focused on one issue to the detriment of others.

The police was once a 52 person department know its a 41 person department

I thought there was a study done that said the PD should only have 43 people? Why would we pay for 52?

Anonymous said...

well I can not talk about the police.but for the d p w I can and will.and for the study they said to the mayor and council that you can not run a town this big with only 7 workers.this is not a little town like hohokus or midland park.this place is a small city, and it don't stop.in a few more years it will get larger ,more building will happen, more people, more work.and time after time we are finding it to be a bit cheep'er for the village to do some of the work then the out side.but the village needs workers end of the story.

yes so true.it must be fixed.this is not good for us.we all pay big tax money for service's.

My point was that the pd was cut as well and the pd also operates with the lowest amount of officer per thousand residents in the county
